hi i’m kristen and i am a hospital midwife.
I’ve always been fascinated by how universal birth is. It’s been with us since the beginning of humanity—we were all born, and birth will always be a part of life. People of all ages, backgrounds, religions, and races go through it, and yet it’s still such a deeply personal and unique experience for each person.
I studied Public Health at UC Berkeley and went on to become a Certified Nurse-Midwife at UCSF. Most of my work has been in large hospitals—where the vast majority of births in the U.S. take place. I provide well-woman care, prenatal care, and have delivered hundreds of babies. I started NĀMU because I kept seeing how many people felt unprepared for pregnancy and birth, even in the best of settings.
My goal is to give you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to make your birth experience—whatever it ends up looking like—something that feels truly meaningful to you.
our approach
personalized education
No generic education or information here. There is no one right way to give birth, so our curriculum is adapted to each person, based on your birth preferences and values.
one-on-one connection
Working with NĀMU means building a genuine relationship. Unlike rushed prenatal visits, our approach brings a human touch back to pregnancy and childbirth education. We take the time to meet one-on-one—in person when possible—with ample time to listen, support, and connect. Virtual sessions are also available to accommodate your preferences.
healthcare provider’s perspective
Most birth education is taught from the outside looking in. At NĀMU, you’ll learn from a Certified Nurse-Midwife who delivers babies every day—offering real-world insight into how labor unfolds, what your options truly are, and how to navigate the hospital system with confidence.
